The Bulldogs split a two game series with Pauls Valley during spring break.

The Panthers took game one, 19-12 but Wayne bounced back and picked up a 12-6 win in the second game.

In the first game, Wayne was up 9-6 when Pauls Valley scored seven runs in the fourth inning to pull ahead and win the game.

“We had two outs and missed a fly out to end the inning. That kind of snowballed and we just did not recover,” head coach Shane Collins said.

The Bulldogs scored 12 runs on nine hits and eight RBIs.

Kaleb Madden was the leader at the plate with three hits and an RBI. Jaxon Dill and Lane Jones had two hits. Jones also had two RBIs.

Wayne’s second game was a better defensive game, according to Collins.

Madden was on the mound for the win. He went five innings giving up six runs on nine hits. He struck out two.

“Kaleb did a good job for us. He hit his spots,” Collins said.

The Bulldogs pushed 12 runs across the plate on 12 hits and seven RBIs.

Rhett Kennedy, Duke Moore, Ty Kemp and Ben Fischer each had two hits.

Wayne had 10 stolen bases in the win.

“We aren’t hitting the ball that well right now so we have to be aggressive on the base paths. We have to take advantage and put stress on the defense,” Collins said.

Wayne’s Tuesday game with ECP was canceled due to weather.

They are scheduled to begin pool play for the Thackerville tournament on Thursday. Wayne starts with Mill Creek at 2:30 p.m. then faces Achille at 4 p.m.
