Purcell’s Board of Education approved the Oklahoma Teacher Empowerment Program (OTEP)plan for 2025-26 at its regular monthly meeting at the administration building Monday night.

Superintendent Dr. Sheli McAdoo reported the school participated in the program last year and were able to provide an additional $125,000 to teachers in the district.

“The best thing is that money doesn’t come out of our budget,” Dr. McAdoo said. “It comes from the state.”

The board approved fund-raisers for high school FCCLA, Spanish Club, high school basketball, the elementary school, intermediate school and PTO.

Athletics workers’ payments of $10 per hour for students and $15 and hour for adults was approved.

The Gifted and Talented Committee consists of Rebecca Franco, David Hilger, Michelle Hall, Melissa Feroli, Tiffany Cook, Jon Corea and Malachi Blaxton.

The textbook committee is comprised of Sharie Wilhoit, Aimee Arnold, Brian McCalip, Kurt Gray, Bryan Young (PFL), Jessica Heil (parent rep) and Carolyn Anyoung (administration).

Board members approved the Memorandum of Understanding and Purcell Schools and OEC Fiber, the 25-26 Apptegy contract and the 25-26 Mindplay learning app.

The board was updated on the existing policy FEG for student transfers of children of active military personnel.

A pair of items on the agenda were tabled including beginning construction on the Ag Barn and the parking lot addition. Both were from 2024 bond issues.

Dr. McAdoo said they were tabled while the district awaits the bids for the elementary safe room and the intermediate safe room.

“Those bids should be released next week,” Dr. McAdoo said.

Dr. McAdoo also reported she keeps updates on district construction projects on the school’s web site.
