Posted

Billie Rose Briganti, 61, of Purcell, Okla., left to be with the Lord on January 6, 2023. Billie Briganti, daughter of William and Margaret Gordon, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 6, 2023 in Chariton, Iowa, with her oldest daughter and son-in -law, Justin and Misty Welter. Billie’s grandchildren Cheyenne Mitchell and Justin Welter Jr. and great-grandchildren Amelia and Olivia were all at her side.

Billie is survived by her children, Misty and Justin Welter and family, Nicole Briganti-Cross and family, Alecia Geissler and family as well as Michael Briganti and his family after a long fight with cancer. Her son Anthony Briganti tragically passed away days before Billie’s death. He had a daughter London.

Billie will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and her church as well as her sense of humor. She was always willing to assist anyone who needed her help. Billie owned and operated her thrift store “Uptown Funk” with her daughter Nicole in Purcell, Okla. Billie, although a busy business owner, never missed a moment to spend time with her family and church. One of her many loves was building and creating beautiful one-of-kind pieces of furniture. She also loved going to the beach, camping, fishing, going to yard sales and baking. Billie will always be remembered for her amazing baking skills. She loved spending every minute she could with her grandson Easton who lived with her in Purcell, or as she endearingly referred to as her “doll face.”

Billie’s love for her Lord was strong and undeniable. She passed her beliefs on to her children and grandchildren. She believed that being a Christian meant you live your life to show your faith through works. She loved assisting in church cleaning, outings, events, and baking. Although she was struggling with cancer it did not deter her desire to continue helping those in need at her church.

In May of 2019 Billie was diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer and given months to live. Billie fought and never let it slow her down. She persevered and continued running her store, spending time with her family and continued volunteering for her church. She did this for over three years before she moved to live with her daughter in Chariton, Iowa, for her end-of-life care.

Billie lived her life her way and will always be remembered as an amazing, strong, beautiful woman with a great sense of humor. Rest in Peace, mom. You are now gone but will never be forgotten. I hope heaven is everything you always dreamed it would be and that you and Anthony are with each other again.
