Betty Jo (Stewart) Payton Polson died October 4, 2022, in Ada, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years 7 months 22 days.  Funeral services were held Monday, October 10, 2022 at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel.  Interment followed at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service. Betty was born February 13, 1931, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Ingram Martin and Maggie Olivia (Morrison) Stewart. She was raised in Bennington.

Betty married Lonnie Payton in 1947 and celebrated 45 years together before his passing in 1992. In 1994, she married Amos Polson, and after eight years together, parted ways in 2002.

Betty enjoyed watching “Wheel of Fortune,” crosswords and other puzzles, watching Jimmy Swaggart, reading her Bible, bird watching and a good cup of coffee. She loved spending time with her family at any chance she could, especially going camping.

Betty was preceded in death by her father, Ingram Stewart; her mother, Maggie Pennington; her children, Linda Boland, Lathin “Buzzy” Payton, Jimmy Payton and Billy Payton; her granddaughter, Heather Gilbert; her grandson, Chris Gilbert; her great-great granddaughter, Alivia Gilbert; her great-great-grandson, Bow Musgrave; and her siblings, Zelma, Edith, Archie, Teddy, Louise, Jiggs, Nellie, Irene, Della Mae, James, Carl, Bonnie and Dale.

Survivors include her daughter, Twila Heidelberg and husband, Steve, of Ada; her son, Don Payton of Antlers; her grandchildren, Kathy Murray, Kevin Elsworth, Kennan Elsworth, Donna Jacobs, Rachel Musgrave and husband, Roy, Elania Thompson, Michael Payton, Travis Heidelberg and Miranda; her special nephews, David Payton of Texas and Bill Payton of Utah; and numerous other relatives and friends.
