Dax Beason, along with his Lexington High School teammates, traveled and competed in the high school boys division of the national archery tournament in Louisville, Ky., May 8-10.
Dax shot a 297 in Bullseye (perfect is a 300) making him the top high school boy shooter across the nation and earned him the title of NASP National Champion.
Dax received a Genesis bow with National Champion on it, a Genesis bow case, a Mathew’s bow of his choice, a dozen Easton arrows, a Morrell target, a medal, a trophy and a plaque.
Dax also received a citation from State House Representative, Cynthia Roe, commending his efforts and making Oklahoma proud.
Dax was notified that he will receive a $1,000 scholarship for earning the top spot and is invited to the Scholarship Shootout to compete against the other top five shooters for additional scholarships up to $5,000 to be held in Daytona, Fla., June 8.
He will be a senior at Lexington this fall.
