McClain County Sheriff Deputy Justin Wright responded to Interstate 35 at northbound mile marker 106 for an agency assist October 8 just after 11 a.m.

Wright was working with Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police Department who had been involved in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

Lighthorse Police initiated the pursuit with a vehicle stolen from the Love’s Convenience Store at SH 9 and I-35.

The report states four subjects exited a vehicle stolen in Texas and commandeered another vehicle at the Loves.

During the pursuit, Lighthorse Police reported two pistols were thrown from the vehicle near the 106 underpass.

The vehicle stopped and all four occupants jumped out and ran off on foot.

Several searches for the guns were unsuccessful.

Deputy Wright had assistance from Norman Police, fellow Deputy Shane McCraw and K-9 Spike.

Soon an Oklahoma Highway Patrol airplane was over the area and spotted the occupants heading east toward the Tri-City Gun Club.

The two deputies plus OHP Troopers, Norman PD and Lighthorse units set up a perimeter around the area where they were last seen.

At that time one of the occupants had been placed in custody.

The OHP plane reported the suspects were headed back to the West so the perimeter was switched to the West and another occupant was apprehended at 3:39 p.m.

Using ATVs, the OHP plane and multiple K-9 teams a third suspect was taken into custody with the last one still at large.

Multiple firearms were recovered from both of the stolen vehicles, authorities reported.
