Rodeo fans don’t have to wait much longer to see their favorite sport.
The annual McClain County Heart of Oklahoma Rodeo will be July 11 and 12 at the McClain County Expo Center.
Purcell has hosted this rodeo for the last 13 years with the exception of 2020.
The Indian Territory Roundup Club puts it on for the county.
Stock is contracted from Big Horn Rodeo Company, who has done the last four rodeos here.
Kyle Robinson of Lamar, OK spearheads the Big Horn Rodeo Company.
“Our rodeo will be IPRA, ACRA and KPRA sanctioned,” organizer Julie Owens said.
The rodeo starts at 8 p.m. nightly with mutton bustin’ at 7 p.m. nightly.
Tickets are $10 at the gate and $8 in advance.
Selling the advanced tickets are rodeo queen candidates Gracie Schiffer, Hadley Taylor and Elizabeth Fondren.
Children 10 years old and under are admitted free of charge.
“The royalty candidates are also selling sponsorships for the rodeo,” Owens confirmed.
A completely separate rodeo will be held July 4 and 5 but it is not associated with McClain County or the McClain County Commissioners or the Indian Territory Roundup Club, officials reported.
