Washington defeated Jones 10-0 and 11-0 in their two Regional tournament games to advance to the Super Regional.

They were set to host Sperry Wednesday, with the first game beginning at noon.

They had a hot two games at the plate offensively and coasted to the wins against Jones.

“It was a great all-around day for us at the plate and we made some quick adjustments to score quite a few runs,” Warrior head coach Tylor Lampkin said. “We played really well and ran the bases really well. We short-gamed it quite a bit the first day and hit it a little more the second day.”

In the first game, Kelby Beller, Kinzlee Pogue and Shelbie Caveness all hit doubles.

Beller was 1-2 with an RBI  while Pogue was 2-3 and had an RBI of her own. Caveness was 1-3 with two ribbies.

Ava Salcedo was 1-3 with two RBIs as well.

Emersyn Massey was 2-3 and scored twice.

The Warriors also enjoyed fantastic pitching through the tournament.

Olivia Palumbo threw a one-hitter in the first game while striking out seven. She only allowed one base on balls.

In the second game against Jones, Salcedo got the nod to start in the circle.

The sophomore struck out four batters in four innings of work and had a no-hitter working when she was relieved by Palumbo.

Palumbo completed the no-hitter for the Warriors and struck out the side.

“I probably could have left Ava out there but we got in the game and I finished it with all our seniors in the field,” Lampkin said. “They’ve been part of this program for a long time and it was a way to say thank you to those seniors.”

At the plate in the second game, Salcedo was on fire – going 3-3 with a double. She had three RBIs.

Bree McHughes was 1-3 with two RBIs and Addy Larman had two RBIs on 1-1 hitting.

Pogue had a double and Daphne Palumbo ripped a triple.

“I’m proud of this team,” Lampkin said. “We were a point away from being ranked No. 1.”

Washington is 35-2 this season.
