Voters to decide

Goldsby could change way they vote

Posted

At their April 7 regular meeting the Goldsby Board of Trustees voted to bring a proposal to the voters of the community.

“The Town of Goldsby is proposing to the citizens of Goldsby the opportunity to go to what is called ward-based voting versus at large voting,” mayor Glenn Berglan explained.

“Each of the 5 wards would elect their council representative by only the residents of that ward rather than everyone in town,” he said.

“It seems like the right and fair thing to do. For instance, you vote only for your State Representative, your State Senator and only for your U.S. Congressman.”

No date has been set, but trustees expect to call a special election in the near future.
