11-5 over Lex and 11-0 over Konawa

With an 11-5 win over Lexington last week and an 11-0 win over Konawa on Monday, Wayne has about evened their record to 7-8.

The Bulldogs dropped a game with Asher, 4-0, on Thursday, too.

With Kaleb Madden on the mound, Wayne pitched a shutout of Konawa.

He went five innings, allowing no runs on four hits and struck out nine.

“Kaleb pitched well for us. He is finding his groove for us,” head coach Shane Collins said.

Wayne’s 10 hits and nine RBIs were the story of the game.

Madden had three hits and three RBIs. Kennedy had two hits and three ribbies. Ty Kemp had two hits and Ethan Mullins  had two ribbies.

“I think we’re starting to find the ball at the plate. It’s a good time to.”

Last week, Wayne had eight hits on the way to a revenge win over Lexington.

Rhett Kennedy and Andy Lee each had two hits and two ribbies.

Freshman Jaxon Dill pitched all seven innings. He allowed 11 hits and had seven Ks.

“Jaxon pitched one heck of a game. He has found his curveball,” Collins said.

Four Bulldogs had at least two stolen bases.

“We were aggressive on the basepaths. Our lineup, one through nine, were expected to get on base and get around them.”

Prior to the Lexington win, Wayne fell 4-0 to Asher.

“They’re a tough team and we played pretty well, but couldn’t get the timely hits when we had runners in scoring position,” Collins said.

Wayne had just three hits in the loss.

The Bulldogs were scheduled to host Elmore City on Tuesday and be in Purcell for the Heart of Oklahoma Tournament starting Thursday.

They face host Purcell at 12:30 p.m.

District pairings have also been released and Wayne will travel to Caddo. Gametimes were not available as of presstime.
