The Wayne Bulldogs picked up a 7-4 win over Rush Springs on Monday night, moving their season record to 9-3.
Jaxon Dill was on the mound and picked up the win. He went six and two thirds innings and had 11 strike outs.
“Jaxon threw for us and he did a great job,” head coach Shane Collins said.
The Bulldogs scored seven runs on nine hits. Rush Springs had 12 hits.
“This was our best game at the plate, hitting-wise. The guys all kept their composure and played great,” Collins said.
Last week, Wayne was supposed to be in the Thackerville tournament. They got their two pool play games in, a 3-1 win over Mill Creek and a 4-2 win over Achille, but that’s all she wrote.
Wet field conditions forced the cancelation of the remainder of the tournament.
Mill Creek
Despite just one hit in the game, Wayne came away with a 3-1 win over Mill Creek.
“We didn’t hit the ball well, but we did great on the base paths.”
Seniors Kaleb Madden and Rhett Kennedy each scored a run by stealing home.
Madden was also solid in the field, with no errors.
Achille
In a 4-2 win over Achille, Wayne collected six hits and one RBI.
Madden, Kennedy, Dill, Webster, Ty Kemp and Braden McClendon each had one hit.
Down 2-1 in the bottom of the third, Wyatt Webster hit a double to bring McClendon home.
“Wyatt came up big time for us.”
The Bulldogs were scheduled to be at Alex on Tuesday, but that game was cancelled. They were in Ringling instead.
Starting Thursday morning, Wayne is in the Dibble tournament. They play Binger-Oney at 10:50 a.m.
