Ranked No. 1 in Class 4A

The Washington slow-pitch softball team continued their  dominance on the softball field, picking seven more wins in a busy week.

The Warriors, now No. 1 in class 4A took six of those wins from ranked teams.

In the Lindsay game Elly Allison went 2-3 with two homers and five RBIs.

“Elly has been killing it,” said Washington head coach Tylor Lampkin. “Last week alone she hit .850.”

Tinley Lucas also homered – and knocked in three runs in the process.

Skylar Wells went 3-3 and doubled.

“Ellie Loveless, Skylar Wells and Elly were all above .700 (at the plate) last week,” Lampkin said.

Washington tournament

The Warriors defeated Silo (4A-#4) 21-11 to capture the Washington tournament championship on Friday.

They opened with a 21-6 win over Lexington. Washington hit five home runs, including a grand slam by Lucas.

They played Westmoore in the second game and won 26-11.

Washington homered seven times and tallied doubles by Haven Brewer, Loveless (2), Tinley Lucas, Emjay Lucas and Abby Wood (2).

In their 16-4 win over Latta (3A #2) the Warriors had homers by Tinley Lucas (2), Isa Portillo, Allison and Wells.

Next up was then No. 1 Dale. Washington slapped a 16-8 loss on the Pirates.

Six home runs and an error-free game were a winning combination for the Warriors.

“Our outfield is doing a really good job,” Lampkin said of Mikinzy Bost (left), Wood (left center), Tinley Lucas (right center) and Emjay Lucas (right).

The coach also had high praise for senior Isa Portillo

“Isa sparks us at catcher,” he said. “She has gotten some outs at home that have been big for us.”

The Warriors are 25-2 on the season.

Senior Night will be April 14 when the Warriors host Mangum.
