Two Purcell High School Cheerleaders had the chance of a lifetime on Thanksgiving Day in New York City.
Senior Mili Antonio and freshman Whitney Bruehl made the trip to NYC to be a part of the Spirit of America Cheer group performing in the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
This year’s parade featured 17 giant character balloons, 22 floats, 15 novelty and heritage inflatables, 11 marching bands, 700 clowns and 10 performance groups.
It was a blustery 48 degrees with light rain showers during the entire parade.
The girls fought through the weather and had an amazing performance in front of the famous Macy’s Department Store at 151 W. 34th Street that was viewed by millions of people around the world.
During their seven days in NYC the girls visited the 911 Ground Zero Memorial, The Statue of Liberty and they were brave enough to take in the sights from atop the Empire State Building.
They saw performances including a Broadway show and the Radio City Rockettes.
The girls also found time to do a little shopping, ice skated at Rockefeller Center beneath the Christmas tree, took a carriage ride through Central Park and wandered around Times Square taking in the sights.
Antonio is the daughter of Adam and Ashley Cannon while Bruehl is the daughter of Ryan and Leah Bruehl.
