New school record

Dibble 5th grader in accelerated reading points

Posted

Dibble fifth grader Carlie Hayden broke the school record for accelerated reading (AR) points this past school year.

Hayden smashed the record of 700 by recording 1,148.1 points this past school year.

The AR program is a computer program used throughout Oklahoma and the nation to help educators manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice.

Children select a book at their independent reading level and read at their individual pace.

Each book is assigned a number of points based on reading level and length of the book.

When finished, the child takes a short quiz on the computer and receives points based on how many questions they answer currently.

Hayden’s book of choice is the Harry Potter series.
