A Celebration of Life Service for Mike McLendon, 50, of Purcell will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2022 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mr. McLendon passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Purcell Municipal Hospital.

Michael Ray McLendon was born November 16, 1971 in Midwest City, Okla, to Clyde L. McLendon and Joyce Ann (Ham) McLendon.  He was raised primarily in Del City, graduating with the Eagle’s Class of 1989. He attended Junior College for a time, and Mike was always busy doing something.

He began working in liquor management at Remington Park, and coordinated large gatherings and special events. He lived in Wanette for a time, and Mike loved his time there.  For the last 15 years, Mike has worked as a fork lift operator at the Walmart Distribution Center in Pauls Valley.

Away from work, Mike was probably fishing or hunting. He looked forward to the annual family deer camp with his brothers in Louisiana, and never missed an opportunity to fish Twin Lakes with his dad, Clyde. Mike was an avid sports fan and enjoyed listening to the Sports Animal.

Nearly 12 years ago, he settled in Purcell with his mother, Joyce. He enjoyed quiet time at his favorite spot at Purcell Lake, where he worked crossword puzzles and read the paper. He was a wonderful son, the best big brother, and he cherished his sister-in-law Sammie, and his niece and nephew, Macie and Callen. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Deana Larman McLendon.

Mike is survived by his mother, Joyce McLendon of Purcell; father, Clyde McLendon of Bethel Acres; brothers, Kevin McLendon and wife, Sammie, and their children Macie and Callen of Anadarko and J.J. McLendon of Moore; aunts, uncles and cousins he adored, and a host of other family and friends.

Michael’s family requests that in lieu of flowers you make a donation to your favorite charity in his honor.
