Mary Dee Maynard

Funeral services for Mary Dee Maynard, 87, were held Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Washington. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mary Dee Webb was born to Jack Demarquis Webb and Malvina (Salter) Webb in Hammon, Okla., on May 28, 1935. She stepped into the presence of Jesus on February 11, 2023, after a brief illness.

Dee grew up in Hammon and graduated from Hammon High School. She attended college at Panhandle State University in Guymon, Okla., where she met the love of her life, Kendall Johney Maynard. Mary Dee and Ken were married on September 1, 1956. They lived in Oklahoma City, Durant and Calera before settling in Ken’s hometown of Washington, Okla. There they raised four children, Larry Kendall, Cynthia Gale, Janis Deanne and Barbara Michelle.

Dee was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She could make or fix anything! She was an amazing cook and seamstress. She made lots of clothes for herself, her kids and others. She even made prom dresses, wedding, bridesmaid and flower girl dresses. After all her kids were in school, she took a cake decorating class. She loved her new hobby and she made many, many birthday and wedding cakes. She also sold Farmer’s Union insurance from her home office.

Dee and Ken were very active at the First Baptist Church in Washington where Dee taught the four- and five-year-olds Sunday School class and VBS for over 40 years. She was active in the Women’s Missionary Union and was also known for her homemade pies at church potlucks and funeral dinners.

She and Ken had two granddaughters and nine grandsons.  They also had 14 great-grandchildren.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mal Webb; sisters, Gwen Chamberlain, Katie Clark and Ann Biddy and brothers Roy Webb, Chuck Webb and Wayne Webb and each of their spouses.

She leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Kendall Maynard; son, Larry Maynard and wife, Cindy; daughter, Cindy Marrero and husband, Juan, daughter, Deanne Maynard and daughter, Michelle Place and husband, Danny, all of Washington; grandchildren, John Maynard, Shannon Maynard Tabor, Joe Marrero, Jeremy Marrero, Jaci Marrero Simon, Tony Guerra, Sean Guerra, Eddie Guerra, Kendra Place, Andrew Place and Maggie Place; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Emma, Zander, Harley, Nevaeh, Payton, Kinsley, Aiden, JD, Aubrey, Jack, Wyatt, Brantley and Waylon, along with many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
