Posted

Funeral services for Mary Wayne Wyatt, 64, of Purcell were held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Lexington. Inerment was held at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mr. Wyatt passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020.

Mark was born December 9, 1955 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, the older of two children born to Leonard and Gladys (Story) Wyatt. He was raised in Purcell and attended Purcell schools, graduating with the Dragon Class of 1974.

Mark was a standout athlete, and excelled on both the basketball court and baseball field for the Dragons. He accepted a scholarship to play baseball at OSU, and started as a shortstop. He moved home to help his dad on the family farm after an injury altered his playing days. Mark eventually returned to OSU, and earned his Bachelors Degree in Agriculture Economics.

He was the proud father of his boys, Michael and Zac. He owned and operated Mizac Cattle Consulting for many years, and used his knowledge of cattle in helping others all over the country.

Mark’s life changed forever, when by chance he met a young Medical Transcriptionist named Cyndi (Kirkhuff) Strawn. He was escorting his mother to an appointment, and she helped him check her in. A man of few words, Mark knew she was the one, and so he left her with a business card and said he would love to see her again. They later met, and on their first date, Cyndi escorted Mark to the emergency room. It was a date to remember, and the catalyst for their beautiful relationship, and Mark eventually married Cyndi on January 26, 2001, and welcomed her two children, Jordan and Alyssa into the family.

Mark’s competitive spirit and drive served him well in life. He was a quiet man; thoughtful and always concerned with the well being of others. For all of his medical battles, he never once complained; he was strong and fought a good fight till the end. One could say, “for a man with a bad heart, Mark Wyatt might have had the biggest heart.” He was a wonderful man who loved the Lord; husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Leonard and Gladys Wyatt and his father-in-law, Rev. Dale Kirkhuff.

Mark is survived by his wife, Cyndi of the home; children, Michael Wyatt of Wayne, Zac Wyatt and wife, Lupita, of Norman, Jordan Strawn and wife, Lindsey, of Little Elm, Texas, and Alyssa Lampkin and husband, Tylor, of Davis, Okla.; sister Linda Mones and husband, George, of Garland, Texas; mother-in-law, Marlene Kirkhuff of Norman; nine grandchildren, Piper, Davis, Markus, Madison, Benjamin, Daisy, Teagan, Rigby and Ripkyn and a host of other family and friends.
