Coach Derek Clark’s Bulldogs built a 10 point lead over Alex in the Grady County Tournament only to give up 21 points in the final period to fall 60-58.

Ty Mixon led the scoring parade pouring in 15 points. Joining him in double digits were Drew Dierking with 12 and Zeke Faulkenberry with 11.

The day before Lexington fell to Ampo 76-57 despite Zeke and Ezra Faulkenberry combining for nearly 30 points.

Zeke led the offense with 19 while Ezra finished with 10.

The ‘Dawgs were to travel to Lindsay Tuesday and are scheduled to host Washington Friday night.

Lexington is ticketed to host Marlow February 1.

Girls

Despite a loss to start their Grady County tournament, the Lexingtong Lady ‘Dawgs were in a good position to post a win over Verden for game two.

Junior Maddie Manuel was hot in the post, scoring 11 first half points for Lexington. The Lady Bulldogs held a 26-20 advantage at the break.

The Lady Tigers adjusted to the Lexington attack in the second half. Also, Manuel was out due to an ankle injury late in the game, giving Verden the window to come back for the 50-40 win.

“Maddie was doing a lot of good and probably playing her best game. She was communicating, playing great offense and defense and catching and scoring the ball.

“When Maddie went out, we lost our size and struggled to respond.”

Lexington scored just 14 points through the final two quarters.

Manuel had 13 points in the loss and Abby Sample had 10.

Head coach Alec Bryen were in Lindsay Tuesday night and set to host Washington on Friday.

“This is a pivotal week for us. We took two losses that could have easily been wins and the girls need to respond.

“We have to be mentally strong and show up to do our job,” Bryen said.
