Lexington swept a double header last Friday topping Little Axe 15-3 and 10-0.

Sophomore Drew Dierking got the victory on the bump in the opener scattering four hits while striking out six in three innings of work.

Dierking helped his own cause swatting a two run double and scoring three times.

Ezra Faulkenberry was 2-2 in the game with an RBI. Skylar Rollins had a trio of RBIs in a 1-4 outing while Jacob Turnpaugh went 1-3 and scored three times.

“We got off to a fast start going up eight runs after two innings,” head coach Jarod Ennis said.  “They were able to get three runs in the third inning but we scored seven in the bottom of the inning to come away with the win.”

Turnpaugh threw BBs at the Indians in the nightcap surrendering only one hit while striking out six in five innings.

At the plate, Turnpaugh went 2-4 with an RBI. Corbin Perry went 2-3 with a triple and had an RBI.

Ennis also got hits from Dierking, Dax Beason, Ty Mixon, Ezra Faulkenberry, Zeke Faulkenberry and Rollins. Rollins lined a double and finished with three RBIs.

“Game two was a lot closer than game one,” Ennis said. “Little Axe played really well defensively through five innings and kept the game close at 0-0.

Lexington cracked the game wide open scoring 10 runs in the fifth.

“In both games we got really good pitching and put the ball in play,” the coach confirmed.

After being rained out April 4 the Bulldogs traveled to Marietta the following day and took a 17-14 loss despite solid hitting.

Dierking was 4-5 with a double and scored four times. Rollins went 2-4 with three RBIs.

Turnpaugh was 3-4 with an RBI and scored three times.

Beason and Zeke both had a hit. Faulkenberry had an RBI and scored three times.

“We got off to an early start and put runs on Marietta quickly. They responded and it was back and forth the whole game,” Ennis said.

Asher pinned an 11-1 loss on the Bulldogs April 7. Peyton Arnold pitched the first three innings before turning the rock over to Beason for the final inning.

Rollins had a double in two trips to the plate while Zeke and Beason both ripped singles.

“We played well most of the game and had decent pitching on the mound,” Ennis said. “Asher had one big inning in the fourth that really hurt us.”

Both Lexington and Wayne had battled to a 4-4 deadlock through the first four frames in the second game of the day.

But Wayne ended up winning the middle and late innings to defeat Lexington, 11-5.

Logan Carroll scattered five hits while fanning nine in the opening five innings. Perry came in to relieve him in the sixth and tossed the last two innings. He gave up one hit and struck out two.

Dierking’s bat remained red-hot going 4-4 with an RBI, a double and scored three times.

Zeke was 3-4 with a triple and Turnpaugh had multiple hits in a 2-4 outing.

Beason, Mixon and Rollins all had a hit. Rollins finished with three RBIs and Beason one.

Heritage Hall pinned a 13-1 loss on the Bulldogs Monday.

Lexington was scheduled to host the Chargers Tuesday and play in the Heart of Oklahoma Tournament Thursday through Saturday.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to host Holdenville next Monday and travel to Wolverine territory next Tuesday.
