School board approves sport at regular meeting

At its regular monthly meeting Monday at the school administration building, Purcell’s Board of Education added golf to junior high athletics.

Superintendent Dr. Sheli McAdoo said the district is in the process of posting the coaching position and will proceed from there.

The board got an update on design processes for district building projects and the GEO engineer is starting their work on the new foundations at the sites, McAdoo reported.

The board approved an amendment to the medication procedures to allow the district to participate in the Stock Inhaler Project.

Purcell will keep an albuterol inhaler on each campus and allow a trained staff member to administer the drug when needed.

“This is in conjunction with the Brendon McLarty Memorial Foundation and the State Department of Education,” Dr. McAdoo said.

The board approved no revisions in the transfer policy.

Board members gave their stamp of approval on a resolution authorizing the acceptance of a Sublease Agreement with the McClain County Economic Development Authority.

In her report, Dr. McAdoo said the district has a new small activity bus that doesn’t require a CDL to drive.

Out of executive session, the board approved all school hires. There were no resignations, McAdoo said.
