A chase by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) of a suspected drug peddler was ended here by Purcell Police last Wednesday afternoon.

At around 3:20 p.m., Purcell Police were requested for an agency assist from OBN as they were in pursuit of a white Dodge Challenger.

The vehicle had fled from a traffic stop on I-35 and was traveling at speeds over 160 m.p.h. when OBN backed off, according to law enforcement officials.

A tip from a citizen informed authorities the vehicle exited into Purcell at a high rate of speed. A second tip that came in a short time later said the vehicle was spotted near SH 74 and 220th with its doors open and a male subject outside of it.

Police said the subject left the area when two Purcell Police Officers observed the vehicle in the 500 block of Grant.

Purcell officers were able to get the vehicle stopped in the 1500 block of North Green Avenue when the suspect was apprehended and booked into the McClain County jail.

He was identified as Damarious Damiuntae Leatil Davis, 26, of Arlington, Texas. Davis faces charges of attempting to elude, reckless driving, acquiring proceeds from drug activity, carrying a firearm as a convicted felon and using a firearm as a convicted felon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and McClain County Sheriff’s deputies were also on the scene Wednesday.
