The Lexington Bulldogs have a full week of baseball. They were scheduled to be in AmPo on Tuesday and in Dibble starting Thursday for a tournament.
The Bulldogs play Ardmore at 10 a.m. in their first game.
Last week, the Bulldogs dropped two games – an 8-7 loss to Wynnewood and a 3-1 loss to Meeker.
Wynnewood
Sophomore Kash Klupenger was electric on the mound, recording 11 strikeouts in the loss to Wynnewood. But, six errors in the field were too much for the Bulldogs to overcome.
Klupenger pitched all seven innings and allowed eight runs (one earned) on seven hits. He gave up one walk.
The Lexington bats were luke warm as they finished the game with four hits – two from Buddy Cormany and one each from Cameron Haley and Kaiden McRavin.
Wynnewood jumped out 4-0 through the top of the second inning. Lexington got one run back in the bottom of the second.
The Bulldogs chipped away with one more run in the fifth while Wynnewood added one in the sixth.
Lexington pushed two more runs across in the bottom of the sixth to make it 5-4.
The Savages scored three more in the top of the seventh putting the pressure on Lexington.
The Bulldogs nearly closed the gap with three runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh, but that wasn’t enough.
Meeker
In another close loss, Lexington fell to Meeker, 3-1.
The Bulldogs collected five hits in the game led by Klupenger’s two. Colby Haynes, Ryan Johnson and James McMillan each had one.
Haynes took the loss on the mound, going four innings and allowing two runs on three hits. He had one strike out.
McMillan came on in relief for two innings. He allowed one run on three hits and stuck out two batters.
Lexington got on the board first with one run in the top of the first inning.
Meeker answered in the bottom of second and they were all-square at one.
Lexington’s offense stalled after that while Meeker added two more insurance runs in the fifth inning to pick up the win.
The Bulldogs are 6-7 on the season.
