County Free Fair and COVID-19

Posted

McClain County Free Fair officials have announced changes to this year’s fair due to COVID-19 precautions.

The 2020 McClain County Fair will be held September 8-12 and will simply consist of livestock and building exhibits. The building exhibits will only be judged, with no public viewing.

A different species of livestock will show each day with no animals allowed to stay overnight to permit disinfecting of facilities.

All exhibits will need to be pre-entered online this year by August 31.

There will also be different check-in and pick-up procedures this year designed to minimize everyone’s potential exposure to COVID-19.

Social distancing, hand hygiene and other safety measures will be encouraged.

The McClain County Fair Board is working closely with the McClain County Commissioners and Emergency Management to monitor the COVID-19 situation and follow CDC guidelines to enhance participants protection.

Other measures such as temperature monitoring at entry or reducing the number of attendees may also be initiated to prevent spread of COVID-19.

More information regarding specific procedures based on current conditions will be announced closer to fair time.

Please check the website at www.mcclainfair.com for information regarding these procedures, fair book information and other updates. You may also follow us on Facebook to receive updates and announcements.

Although it is not under ideal circumstances, the McClain County Fair Board hopes that these changes and safety measures will allow citizens of McCIain County to exhibit their hard work with no exposure to COVID-19.
