Council approves changes to budget

Posted

The Purcell Police Department will acquire two ballistic shields with a $4,500 grant from Walmart.

The Purcell City Council approved a budget adjustment at Monday’s meeting to give the department access to the funds.

Two other budget adjustments also were approved.

Rural Fire’s purchase of a cab and chassis was previously approved for $38,476.

However, when GM cancelled the order the only option was a diesel unit from Carter Chevrolet.

That unit costs $48,476.

The third budget adjustment was $1,901.20. That was reimbursement on a vehicle insurance claim.

The council also approved a prepayment of $28,261 to ONG to relocate a gas line from the construction area on the new roadway leading to Purcell Municipal Hospital.

When the contractor began working on the road, it was discovered the gas line was only two feet below surface, not the three feet expected.

The council also approved a resolution calling for a primary municipal election for Division 1 on February 14.

That seat is presently held by mayor Graham Fishburn.

The candidate filing period will run December 5 through 7.
