Burn ban lifted by county commissioners

McClain County Commissioners voted to lift the burn ban at their regular meeting at the McClain County Courthouse.

In their meeting Monday morning, the three commissioners, Terry Daniel, Wilson Lyles and Glen Murray voted not to extend the burn ban.

At their meeting October 17 commissioners approved their $10,116,347 budget.

They approved a $100 per month pay increase for all full-time county employees and $200 per month to the sheriff’s field deputies beginning with the January 2023 payroll.

They approved a $600 Employee Performance Award added to full time employees for who have been employed on or before January 3, 2022. Full time employees hired after Jan. 3, 2022 and no later than June 30, 2022 will have a $300 Employee Performance Award.

Commissioners approved a salary increase for District 1 Commissioner from $58,020 to $65,220.

District Three Commissioner and Assessor are to be applied to the January 2023 payroll. The Treasurer to be applied to the July 2023 payroll. District Two Commissioner, Sheriff, Court Clerk and County Clerk’s increases will not apply until January 2025.

Commissioners added one full time employee, if needed, to the County Clerk and one temporary part time employee to the Election Board for peak times such as elections.
