The Washington Warriors, one of the best teams in Class 3A, had to cancel their Spring Break trip to a baseball tournament in Arizona due to coronavirus.

The team (4-0) has two victories each over Little Axe and Lexington.

They defeated Lexington 13-3 last Tuesday.

Gabe Williams – who struck out seven batters while allowing only one hit – was credited with the win.

Oliver Wilson came on in relief and struck out five batters.

Williams helped himself out at the plate, driving in three runners.

Bobby Reese, Nick Andrews and Colin Pelton each had two RBIs.

Pelton and Andrews had stolen bases.

The Warriors were set to see some of the best teams in the region during the tournament in Arizona.


The Washington softball team is talented in their own right and ranked No. 3 in Class 4A.

They picked up a 24-9 win over Class 6A Mustang last Tuesday.

The Warriors had a huge day at the plate. They had home runs by Brynn Farmer (2), Hope Madden (2), Ellie Loveless, Ashleigh Gay and Elly Allison.

Emma Curry had three doubles in the game.

Madden had a team-leading six RBIs.

The Warriors are 1-1 this season.
