Purcell’s 1600 meter relay team of Chelsea Spain, Liz Caralampio, Tate Quintero and Kora Keith posted its best time of the year at the State Track Meet in Catoosa last weekend.

Coach Greg Dillard said the quartet trimmed two seconds off their previous best time of the year with a 4:12.3 effort.

“Chelsea and Kora ran their season best splits with a time of 61.1 and 61.3 respectively,” Dillard said.

Spain also competed in the long jump with a 14’9” effort.

Jacie Carr missed qualifying for the finals in the discus by a mere four inches, Dillard said.

Dillard said Lucy Wilson fouled on her three attempts at 8’ in the pole vault.

“This was her first year to compete at State,” Dillard said. “She showed improvement on each of her jumps.”

Dillard expressed his appreciation to the parents and fans that have supported the Dragons the entire season.

“The support has meant so much to these young ladies,” Dillard said. “Our seniors will be missed. I appreciate their dedication and commitment.”
