Scalping the S*****s

Mr. Montgomery: A few minutes ago, fellow Purcell High School alumnus Dick Gray directed my attention to the following headline on a story for, at least, the online version of a high school basketball game story: Scalping the Savages. As an American Indian, an enrolled member of the Mvskoke (Creek) Nation, a veteran of many years of employment with American Indian tribes and organizations, and a 1969 Purcell High school graduate, I object in the strongest terms possible to such an insensitive use of language.

Thanks for making me a part of the All Decade 1980's Team for PHS. I have been, and always will be, proud to be a Purcell Dragon. Many of the players on this list were heroes of mine and being included with them adds special meaning to this recognition for me personally.

The Casey Case
Posted: July 28, 2011

For weeks and months, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the news on every TV screen in America rehashed the jury verdict of innocence given Casey Anthony, who was charged with murder of her own child.
