The Knights of Columbus of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church will hold its annual Beast Feast Saturday, February 1.

The event will be held in the parish hall at Fourth and Jefferson in Purcell.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person, $25 per couple and $30 for a family.

All proceeds go to Knights of Columbus Community Projects.


The Purcell Public Library invites its youngest guests to STEAM learning at the library’s weekly Preschool and Toddler Story Times.

Story Times are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. each Thursday.

Each of the story times feature stories, science, tech, engineering and math, art, crafts and hobbies to help young children in developing their pre-reading skills.

Advance registration is requested, but is not required.

Teens are invited to the Purcell Public Library for Teen Lounge on Tuesday, January 28, from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

School can be exhausting. Teen lounge is a weekly program to hang out and relax and have some fun. Many of the things we will be doing will be cooking, gaming, arts and crafts, and technology.


The Purcell Public Library will present an “Oddly Satisfying Family Event” Sunday, January 26, from 2-3 p.m. in the meeting room.

Bring the whole family and explore kinetic sand, water beads, slime, and more on this Sunday funday! with snacks, games and a craft. 


Full STEAM Ahead will be  presented at the Purcell Public Library on Thursday, January 30, from 3:15-4:15 p.m.

Children are invited to use littleBits and Squishy Circuits for hands-on exploration of electrical circuits.

Design and create whatever you can imagine with the components of light, sound and movement.


The Purcell Public Library will begin a series of “Tai Chi for Better Balance” classes for adults at 10 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, beginning Monday, January 27.

Attendees will learn movements of Tai Chi in an effort to help reduce stress and increase balance and flexibility.

The program is designed for people of all levels of mobility and can be performed either standing or sitting.

Eight positions will be taught and built upon during the classes.

The series will continue at 10 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays for 12 sessions, through Thursday, March 5.

Space is limited so advance registration is required to attend.

This is a recipe that is a little different but I thought really good.

Cheesy Cornbread Casserole

1 lb.  lean ground beef

1  onion, chopped

1 jalapeño pepper, seeded, finely chopped

15 oz. can enchilada sauce

15 oz. can black beans, drained

1 tsp.  garlic powder

1 tsp.  ground cumin

8.5 oz. pkg. corn muffin mix

1 pkg.  Kraft Mexican Style Shredded Four Cheese with a Touch of Philadelphia, divided

Heat oven to 350º.

Brown meat with onions and peppers in large skillet. Stir in next 4 ingredients; cook and stir 3 minutes or until heated through. Spoon into 13x9-inch baking dish.

Prepare muffin batter as directed on package; stir in cheese. Spread over meat mixture.

Bake 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cornbread topping comes out clean. Cool slightly.
