The 3rd Saturday Book Group Virtual Program will be held from 10 a.m.-12 noon on Saturday, November 21.

Adults are invited to the book discussion group each month on the third Saturday at 10 a.m.


A canned food drive for Operation Christmas is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church at 400 W. Main Street.

Co-sponsors for the event are the Purcell Kiwanis Club, Lions Club and Rotary Club.

Donors may also drop off canned goods at Ron Davis’ Shelter Insurance Agency during business hours. The agency is located at 227 W. Main.


The Purcell Register will have early deadlines for the issue of November 26 because of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

All ads, classified ads and news must be in the office by Monday, November 23, at 11 a.m.

The paper will be available Tuesday, November 24, at 2:30 p.m.


Purcell’s Lights From the Heart will hold a ribbon cutting and opening night on Wednesday, November 25, at 5 p.m.

Join the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for the Christmas lights at Purcell City Lake.

Santa will be on hand to celebrate the lights opening. 


The Wayne Fire Department is holding its 30th annual Toy Drive.

Firefighters are currently accepting toy donations, $10 value, or cash donations to help them meet their goal.

Toys will be given to children at the department’s drive-through program December 12.

Here is another great Thanksgiving dinner recipe! It comes from Janet Woolly.

Hominy Casserole

3 cans white hominy, drained

3 cans yellow hominy, drained

2 cans chopped green chilies

16 oz. Hiland French Onion dip

1 lb. grated Velveeta cheese

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. pepper

Heat oven to 350°.

Mix all ingredients together.

Place in greased 9x13 inch casserole dish and bake for 1 hour.
