Gary Goodfriend from Austin, Texas, a cousin to Suzanne Wells, Ali Bell and Adam Wells, visited Purcell to visit family last week.

He was delighted to see another cousin, Blakeley  Bell.

He and Suzanne were feted to a grand meal in Sulphur with one of her friends and took in the sights.

While in town, they looked at new homes and visited Red Hill during the brief visit. He also had an opportunity to reacquaint himself with Dixie Bell along with Zoey and Honey Wells.

Goodfriend and family enjoyed a Friday dinner at Jo’s Pizza along with an earlier hamburger meal prepared by Mr. and Mrs. Wells.

Goodfriend is the nephew of the late Joe and Pauline Krapf.

The Purcell Public Library and the Pioneer Library System welcome children to explore their imagination in the upcoming series “Imagination Activation,” part of this year’s Summer Learning Challenge.

Programs are scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on each of the five Thursdays during July, beginning July 2.

The presentations will take place virtually through the library’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pioneerlibrarysystem.

In this five-part series, children learn how to use their voices, faces and bodies to clearly communicate characters and emotions onstage and when telling stories.

For more information on this series or the library’s services during the coronavirus pandemic, go online to www.pioneerlibrarysystem.org.

I’ve made this recipe with a roast before but never with chicken. I think I like the chicken version better!

Mississippi Chicken

3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs

1 packet au jus gravy mix

1 packet ranch dressing mix

1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter

6-8 pepperoncini peppers

Add chicken thighs to the bottom of the slow cooker.

Sprinkle both packets of au jus gravy mix and ranch dressing mix on top of the chicken.

Then, top with stick of butter.

Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 hours.

The chicken will produce its own juices so you don’t have to add any other liquid to this.

When it’s ready, take a couple of forks and shred the chicken.

Serve over rice, potatoes, noodles or riced cauliflower.
