Margaret Elizabeth O’Quin November 13, 1936 – July 16, 2019
Margie, age 82, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. She was born on November 13, 1936 in Mountain Home, Idaho, to George Elmer Guntrum and Ruth Ann (Nicholas) Beach Guntrum.
She married the love of her life Verner Beryl O’Quin June 16, 1960; who preceded her in death June 25, 1999.
Margie only had an eighth-grade education, but she knew how to work. From working in a bar at age 13, to owning a furniture store in Valparaiso, Indiana after her husband got out of the Navy, to managing two convenience stores and a gas station in Tacoma, Washington. She had a head for business.
Her favorite shows to watch were Judge Judy, the Maury Povich Show, and Law & Order SVU. Margie couldn’t make it through the day without her newspaper and rag mags.
Margie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cherry Dunn (Fred Franzen), Kathy Ray, Verner B. O’Quin, Jr. (Brenda), Richard G. O’Quin (Nona), Idena Deveraux, Linda Rillema and Tricia Johnson (William). Margie will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Robert Fukuhara, Liz Fukuhara-Smith (Ivy), Chantal Holmes, Katie Dillion (Carlos), Ricky O’Quin (Saxon Freiner), William Deveraux (Kelly), Rebecca Rillema and Briana Martin. Margie will be leaving behind many great-grandchildren, Davon, Lashadon; Jayden Monique Fukuhara, Daivian A’Mari, Dominic’que Robert-Thomas Davis; Jeremy Passmore, Michael Passmore,Russell Teer; Kaitlynn Holmes, Carla Dillon, Carlea Dillon, Kailea Dillon; Madilyn Brooke Deveraux. She will also be leaving behind great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and siblings.
Margie had nine brothers, Clarence David “Butch” Guntrum, Terry Leland Guntrum, Daniel Duane “Danny” Guntrum, Johnny Guntrum, James Oliver Guntrum Lowells (preceeded her in death) Henry William “Hank” Guntrum (preceeded her in death), three we don’t know their names; and two sisters Anna Bell Griffith and Harrietta “May” Roach (preceeded her in death) and a half-sister, Jeannie Payne.
