Graveside Funeral Services for Lois Roach, 93, of Purcell were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the Dibble Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mrs. Roath passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at the Norman Regional Healthplex.
Lois Lavern Start was born April 29, 1926 near Box, Oklahoma, one of two children born to Ed and Verdie Mae Start. She was raised in the Criner and Purcell area and attended Dibble Schools.
Lois married her best friend and life partner, W.C. Roath on November 16, 1942 in Blanchard. That same year, W.C. was drafted into the United States Army. They lived in California for a short time before moving back home to Oklahoma, settling in the Dibble and Purcell area.
Together they raised two daughters, Darlene and Glenda. Lois worked as a clerk at Central State Hospital in Norman for many years. After retirement, she spent countless hours at her “part time” job, working in W.C.’s flower gardens. Her greatest joy however was being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Lois was an avid reader and loved working missing vowels puzzles. Her passion was sewing and she enjoyed sharing her gifts with family and friends. Lois was a longtime and faithful member of the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Roath; grandson, Wesley Bryan Henry; great-grandson, Chris Kilpatrick; parents, Ed and Verdie Mae Start and infant brother, Earl Roath.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Darlene Henry and husband, Lloyd, of Lindsay and Glenda Kilpatrick and husband, Lee, of Purcell; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church in Lois’s memory.
