Linda Kaye Sweetman was born July 25, 1943 in Pauls Valley, Okla., the baby of six children born to Ollie James Sweetman and Artie Earlene (McWhirter) Sweetman. Linda spent her early years in the Maysville area. The Sweetman family later settled in Lexington where she went to school.
Linda worked for the Lexington Prison Annex for a time. She then began working as a cook for Lexington Public Schools, retiring after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
Linda married Clayton Melvin Lee and they made their home in the Dibble area. But she never forgot her Lexington roots, and she made it back home every chance she could. In fact, Linda never missed an 89’er Festival and was very proud of her community.
Family was everything for Linda; she was a proud wife and mother, and she was crazy about her grandkids. She was an avid gardener and spent countless hours gardening with her brother Gary, and Linda she was always good for a game of pitch or dominos.
She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Lexington, but more recently had attended Midway Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry May; parents, Ollie and Artie Sweetman; two sisters, Sue Skaggs and Barbara Duty and two brothers, Paul Don Sweetman and James Sweetman.
Linda is survived by her husband, Clayton of the home; children, Janie Barr and husband, Jeff, of Chickasha and Mandy Fultz and husband, Lonnie, of Dibble; brother, Gary Sweetman and wife, Oletha, of Lexington; three grandchildren, Clayton, Brock and Jason and wife, Kasey; one great-granddaughter, Olivia and a host of other family and friends.
