Larry Dudgeon

Memorial services for Larry Dudgeon, 70, of Lexington were held Wednesday, June  12, 2019 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Bessie, Okla. His remains will be laid to rest in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Bessie. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mr. Dudgeon passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at his home.

Lawrance Gene Dudgeon was born May 26, 1949, in Carnegie, Oklahoma. He was the seventh child of 13 children born to Raymond Emery Dudgeon and Pauline Florence (Dooley) Dudgeon. Larry learned how to work hard as a young boy and he kept that same work ethic throughout his life.

He grew up in Cordell and graduated from Cordell High School with the class of 1967. After high school he was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for nearly three years before being honorably discharged. While in the service he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.

While in the service, Larry married Charlotte Glasgow. Together they raised three children, Jacob, Chris and Rebecca. Larry lived in Moore for a short time before moving to Lindsay, Okla., in 1974. Larry started working for York International on March 20, 1972. He retired in September 2000 after 28 years and six months of dedicated service as a Maintenance Mechanic.

Larry later married Jo Ann Miller on Aug. 30, 1996.  They lived in Noble for one year before moving to an acreage east of Lexington in 1997. In 1998, Larry went to work for the University of Oklahoma and worked as an Electrical Technician, Mechanical Technician and Elevator Technician.   He retired in 2010.

Larry loved his family, those tied by bloodline or those accepted through love. His kindness, trust and love taught many a child “that’s what Daddies do.” He loved working with his hands, fishing and being outdoors with his grandchildren who called him “PaPa.”
