Graveside Funeral Services for Barbara “Honey” Peery, 78, of Purcell were held Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Peery passed away Friday, July 12, 2019.

Barbara June Coffman was born February 16, 1941 in Cushing, Oklahoma, the third of four children born to Bob and Edith Coffman. The Coffman family moved to Kansas for a time, and then back to Purcell, eventually settling in Lexington. Barbara attended Lexington Schools, graduating with the Class of 1960.

In November of 1961, Barbara’s life changed forever. By chance, she met a young man from Lexington named Scottie Peery. It was love at first sight, and they both knew it, and a short 36 days later, on December 29th, they were married.

Purcell has always been home for Scottie and Barbara, where together they raised four children, Jerry, Angela, Scottie A. and Cindy. Barbara worked a variety of jobs throughout the years. She worked at LARC for a time and as a cook for several area restaurants. She fondly recalled her time working as Activity Director in a Nursing Home.

Honey’s greatest joy however was her family, and she especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the CB Club and a gifted artist who enjoyed cameo paintings. Honey was an excellent cook and will forever be remembered for her cinnamon rolls. She was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Makena June Harris; parents, Bob and Edith Coffman; infant sister, Bobbie Jean Coffman and son-in-law, Charlie Shore.

Honey is survived by her best friend and life partner, husband Scottie Peery of the home; children, Jerry Peery of Norman, Angela Shore of Purcell, Scottie A. Peery and wife, Tammy, of Wayne and Cindy Ward and husband, Justin, of Pauls Valley; sister, Virginia Thompson of Tulsa; two brothers, Jim Coffman and wife, Annelle, of Washington State and Robert A. Coffman of Purcell; six grandchildren, David, Stephanie and husband Redd, Erin, Brandi and husband, Jonathon, Lori and husband, Jordan and Cody; seven great-grandchildren, Brendon, Bradley, Alexia, Mason, JW, Emmett and Major and a host of other family and friends.
