Beth Boles, Michelle Matthews, and Heather Spray

Wayne Public Schools Superintendent Toby Ringwald has announced the District Teachers and Support Staff of the year for Teacher Appreciation Week.

“These staff members were voted on by their peers and received recognition as being the ‘Best of the Best’ in a staff full of extraordinary people,” Ringwald said.

Beth Boles is the Elementary Teacher of the Year. She has been a fifth grade teacher at Wayne for the past two years and has been teaching for 13 years.

Her favorite subject to teach is math. Her favorite part of teaching is getting to know her students and forming lasting relationships with them.

Beth is the wife of Brent Boles and has two grown daughters, who graduated from Wayne, and a granddaughter, Brinlee, currently enrolled in kindergarten.  She says it is very fitting that she works at Wayne.

Michelle Matthews is the Secondary Teacher of the Year.

She has been at Wayne for 13 years and teaches Art, English IV, and is the Technology Director.

Her favorite subject to teach is drawing in Art and Shakespeare in English.

Her favorite part of teaching is being involved in her seniors’ final decisions on their lives after high school and providing them with the memories that make them look back fondly on their senior year.

Michelle has three grown children and a granddaughter that will start Pre-K at Wayne next year.

Heather Spray is the Support Staff of the Year.

She is the Middle School Secretary and financial secretary.

She has been at Wayne for eight years and loves working with a great staff and watching the students learn and grow.

She is a second-generation Wayne staff member.

Heather is the wife of Matt Spray and has two children, Zoe, an eighth grader, and Zachary, a fourth grader, both at Wayne.1
