Guest speaker Sgt. David Keith Williams was among 38 veterans honored Monday in Purcell High School’s annual Veterans Day Assembly.
Veterans and their escorts filled a large portion of The Reimer Center court.
They were treated to outstanding performances by the Purcell High School Band, poems read by Jeremy Cudd and Logan McKiddy, Warriors for Freedom updates, tributes from Purcell Elementary School first graders, an art presentation, TAPs by Raleigh Savage and brief remarks by National Honor Society Sponsor Kaisha Mathis and high school principal Bret Petty.
Kora Keith and Samantha Ardery presented the colors, Cudd led the Pledge of Allegiance and Bryce Tuck presented a welcome speech.
Gavin Nation gave the Warriors for Freedom update and Tuck presented a painting by Tate Quintero to Sgt. Williams.
The poems were written by Dru Clay and Miseal Duque.
After the assembly, veterans were provided a lunch at the school.
Mrs. Mathis said Custom Dental provided water and a donation to the luncheon as well as free services to the veterans and their families for the month of November.
