Detectives on scene

Investigators from Purcell, Norman and Oklahoma City descended on this residence in southwest Oklahoma City where stolen property from several metro churches was discovered last Thursday.

Purcell Detective Lt. Kevin Austin developed a person of interest in the Johnson Road Baptist Church burglary and officials believe they are close to cracking the case.

Purcell Police had been actively investigating the burglary that occurred at the church around January 15.

A search warrant was executed at a residence in southwest Oklahoma City Thursday where detectives uncovered a large amount of stolen property from other churches around the metro.

Purcell detectives were quickly joined by Oklahoma City and Norman Investigators to assist in processing the scene.

The person of interest is currently in the Garvin County Jail on unrelated charges and has not been officially charged in McClain County as of earlier this week.

Garvin County authorities said Sterling Morris, 34, is in custody there after he was found inside an area church in that county.
