McClain County Operation Christmas 2019 isn’t quite in the bag yet.
Applications are still being accepted.
Be aware, though, that time is running out to turn in those applications.
The deadline to apply is November 22.
Applicants must be McClain County residents and meet income guidelines.
Peggy Christian, chief elf for the annual holiday drive, said applications are available at the Department of Human Services, Delta Community Action, area schools and most churches in the county.
Christian is also calling for volunteers to work organizing the gifts and food baskets.
Those workers are needed the week of December 9-13.
Donations of toys, clothing, toiletries, books, school supplies and more are still being accepted, she added.
And as always, McClain County Operation Christmas accepts monetary donations.
Christian said the program spends an average of $15,000 per year on new toys and groceries to fill the food baskets.
Monetary donations may be sent to Darrell Ford at P.O. Box 756, Purcell, Okla., 73080.
Also, Christian said no one has yet stepped forward to replace Peggy Howard, who retired after the 2018 Operation Christmas due to poor health.
Christian would like to see that vacancy filled.
“And they don’t have to be named Peggy,” she added.
To volunteer or learn more about the vacancy, call Christian at 405-990-4001.
