A former music minister who pled guilty to four sexual charges involving a 15-year-old Norman youth was sentenced Friday to eight years in prison.
Cody D. Evans listed addresses in both Purcell and Moore when he was arrested in April.
After waiving a preliminary hearing, Evans made the plea in November before Cleveland County District Court Judge Jeff Virgin.
The charges included three counts of lewd molestation and one court of forcible sodomy.
In addition to sentencing Evans to eight years in prison, Virgin ordered 12 years supervised probation following his release.
In addition, Evans must register as a sex offender for life.
Evans could have been sentenced to 20 years on each count.
His attorney sought leniency, telling Virgin that Evans has completed several sexual addiction classes.
The youth’s parents both made statements at the sentencing and a victim’s impact statement by the teen was read by a prosecutor.
