Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) agents arrested a Purcell Police Officer Thursday in connection with a sexual assault charge.
OSBI agents accused Jason Baca of sexual assault of a 37-year-old female in August while on duty.
The Purcell Police Department (PPD) requested OSBI assistance on August 13 after the allegations against Baca, 41, were made by the female.
Baca started working as an officer with the Purcell Police Department in 2019. He has been on paid administrative leave since the investigation was initiated.
An arrest warrant was issued for him Thursday morning and he turned himself in at the Purcell Police Department without incident.
He is facing one count of sexual battery and has been released on bond from the McClain County Detention Center.
The OSBI does not comment on the employment status of a person under investigation by the Bureau.
Anyone who believes they may have had inappropriate contact with Baca are encouraged to contact the OSBI at (800) 522-8017 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
After Purcell Police were made aware of possible misconduct by one of its officers, they immediately requested the assistance of the OSBI.
OSBI took the lead of the criminal investigation. PPD refers persons to the OSBI or McClain County District Attorney’s Office for current details related to their review.
PPD is conducting a separate administrative investigation.
