The annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Hillside Cemetery will be at 11 a.m. Monday rain or shine.

That’s the word from organizer Jay Tate.

Tate and volunteers are scheduled to place flags on the graves of veterans starting at 1 p.m. Friday.

He said that is also a rain or shine event.

Last year they placed 1,256 flags and Tate figures there will be additional flags this year.

Graham Fishburn will be the featured speaker with Justin Blankenship scheduled to give the invocation.

“Our goal is to honor the dead,” Tate said.

Another group set to honor the fallen is the Purcell Police Department Honor Guard, who will provide a Rifle Volley at the ceremony.

The Honor Guard is comprised of Dakota Norman, Corporal Joshua Van Oort, Det. Sgt. Scott Stephens and Det. Lt. Kevin Austin.
