It’s almost time to Adopt A Boom.
The annual fireworks extravaganza co-sponsored by the City of Purcell and Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce will again light up the sky over Purcell Lake in celebration of Independence Day.
Or Independence Day minus one.
The 2020 Purcell Fourth of July Fireworks Display will in fact be staged on July 3.
Elisabeth Baker, the chamber’s executive director, said individuals, companies and non-profits are all invited to “adopt” a firework.
Each display may be dedicated to a family member or in memory of a loved one who is deceased.
But first, some contact information and a little money must change hands.
Adoption fees are as follows:
- Big Bang, 360-foot plume, $250
- Sonic Boom, 270-foot plume, $100
- Bada Boom, 180-foot plume, $50
- Baby Boom, 90-foot plume, $20
Baker said the names of adopters and honorees will be published on the chamber’s website and social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram.
Returning to stage this year’s event will be Arc Pyrotechnics Inc., an Oklahoma City firm.
Baker said there isn’t a sponsor for the show’s finale yet.
The City of Purcell contributes $7,500.
Adopt A Boom forms are available at the chamber office, 220 W. Main.
