Six small grass fires along Interstate 35 Monday afternoon has firefighters from Goldsby and Purcell scratching their heads.
With no exact cause of the fires, officials could only speculate that maybe a chain off a trailer was dragging on the roadway.
But there is really no way of knowing.
Five of the small fires were doused by the Goldsby Department and one of the fires by Purcell’s Department.
Purcell Firefighters responded to the reported grass fire at 3:11 p.m.
All of the blazes were along the southbound lanes of the interstate.
Smoke from the fires hindered motorists but traffic was never halted.
No one was injured and the blazes were quickly and professionally extinguished.
