The McClain County Courthouse was forced to close last Friday in the midst of two jury trials due to electrical problems.

A transformer south of the sheriff’s department blew some time prior to 6:15 a.m. shutting off much of the power to the building, sheriff Don Hewett reported.

Power was restored to the building at 11:45 a.m. by City of Purcell Electric Department crews but commissioners had already officially closed the building.

Hewett said one of the trials was postponed until Monday and the other one was moved to the Purcell Police Department where the Purcell City Council meets where it was expected to conclude Friday.
