A Purcell man is free after posting $50,000 bond in a child abuse case.
Prosecutors in McClain County District Court charged Brandon S. Skinner, 25, for an incident on June 11 at his home.
According to an affidavit, Purcell police were called to the emergency department at Purcell Municipal Hospital where a 5-month-old infant girl was being treated for suspected abuse.
The youngster’s mother is in the process of getting a divorce from Skinner. She told police that their two children were staying with Skinner for several days.
Skinner reportedly sent her a message on June 11 stating he had slapped the girl, bruising her. The message also stated he didn’t deserve the children and the mother needed to retrieve them.
After taking the two children to her home in Noble, the mother contacted DHS and was instructed to take the infant to the hospital and notify police, according to the affidavit.
An officer reported there were visible bruise marks on the baby’s buttocks.
A preliminary hearing conference will be at 9 a.m. July 29. Skinner is to have no contact with the child.
