McClain County prosecutors have charged a 36-year-old Purcell man with second degree burglary and possession of burglary tools.
James R. Crum was released on his own recognizance.
According to an affidavit, Crum was seen on video surveillance using a ratcheting screwdriver and a pry bar to force open the vending kiosk at USA Car Wash, 230 S. Green Ave.
He reportedly took an estimated $600 in cash from the kiosk and rode away on a bicycle.
The car wash owner told police the May 21 theft was the second time in as many weeks that the kiosk was broken into. He didn’t report the first theft because a fogged camera lens failed to capture the crime.
This time, however, police were able to capture a still image from the security camera and an officer identified Crum.
