Progress continues on the construction of the new junior high school.
Better yet, the multi-million dollar project is on time and “at or under budget.”
Tyler Graves with Goldsby Construction shared that with the Purcell Public Schools Board of Education during a meeting on Monday evening.
Crews began working on curb and gutters on Monday, Graves said, and the air conditioning is on in two of the school’s three sections.
Air conditioning was to be turned on in the final section on Tuesday.
Construction has gone so smoothly that funding has been freed up for an additional project – a 30-by-70 foot weight room and adjacent 20-by-30 band storage room.
Graves estimated completing the weight room will take about seven months.
He also reported that fencing at Conger Field will be finished by the end of the week.
The first game on the new field was played Friday.
“We were excited for the community to see the facility,” he said, adding the field is open though there are still “a few kinks to work out.”
